Field Notes / offline photography course

Protecting your content library.

An offline photography course teaches lighting, composition and focus through short lessons and diagrams. Students need those lessons in the app. IP Vault seals the content pack, making its reusable originals harder to extract and redistribute.

Why integrate

Deliver the lessons without surrendering reusable files.

Field Notes is our Android reference app for an offline photography course. Its three original lessons are Read the light (lighting and shadows), Make room for the subject (framing and composition), and Choose what stays sharp (focus). Each pairs a short reading and practice exercise with a diagram.

The baseline packages the library as ordinary JSON. The IP Vault build packages the same library as a sealed asset and renders it after activation. Both display the same original content. This is a working reference integration with demo material, not a claim about an existing commercial customer.

The integration

Seal in the build. Open in licensed installations.

  1. Keep the original lesson text and diagram coordinates outside the protected application’s packaged resources.
  2. Seal the library in the build and register access for the intended application and signing identity.
  3. Activate a licensed installation. The reader opens the sealed asset and decodes the library in memory, without writing the opened JSON to a cache file.
  4. Compare the minified baseline and protected APKs, verify matching content, and exercise refusal and offline controls.

Check the integration requirements for your app and its runtime or reader.

What was checked

A working feature and a leaking baseline.

Case study checks
CheckObserved result
Minified release packagingThe plaintext baseline is detected by the same byte searches that find no declared plaintext probes in the protected APK. Its sealed asset is present.
Content parityBoth builds decode the same library hash, containing all three original lessons and diagrams.
Refusal controlsAn invalid activation code and a bit-flipped library are refused. The intact library opens again afterwards.
Offline readingAll three lessons decode with the API unreachable and renewal due; the still-valid cached licence remains usable.

Recording and demonstration notes

Field Notes is an offline photography course on lighting, composition and focus. The original demonstration lessons contain text, practice exercises and diagrams. IP Vault seals that content pack and controls access from licensed installations.

The plaintext baseline gives a downloader the reusable library. The protected APK contains the sealed library, while the reader still renders all three lessons. Package comparison and runtime checks use the same source content.

Visible lessons can still be captured, and the reader holds decoded text and diagram data in memory. This demonstration makes extracting the shipped library harder; it does not prevent every form of copying or redistribution.

The protection boundary

Put expertise and time back in the way.

AI agents lower the effort needed to locate reusable assets and trace keys bundled with an app. IP Vault seals the asset and issues access to accepted installations. The aim is to move extraction beyond unpacking a download, back toward investigating a running app with specialist expertise and time.

This reference app uses the published SDK with a local development service and emulator. It demonstrates installation access, rendering and packaging; paid subscriptions, a hosted production policy and Play purchase enforcement are outside its scope.

This small reader decodes the library into ordinary application memory. Text, diagrams and screenshots can be captured during authorized use. Content protection raises the cost of extracting reusable originals; it cannot prevent all unauthorized redistribution.

The scanner is free. Guided integration and verification are a separately scoped paid service.
